I purchased the Lenovo E31 with Xeon 1230 V2 processor and NVidia 600 Video card It cost about $900 with the extra 4 GB memory. Windows 7 Pro.
I am quite pleased with the computer. It is being used for CAD drawings, audio recording, and video file processing. The computer is at least 5x as fast as my old Lenovo laptop(2.0 GHz, Centrino Pro) , which was a decent machine for it's time according to my benchmark tests. Even internet browsing is much faster with the same Network setup.
I was concerned that it might not be quiet enough for a recording environment but no problem here. Totally silent unless you are maxing out the CPU.
Build quality is high. I added a 4GM memory Simm and looked around inside the case. Everything is solid. Adding a 2nd memory Simm enables the 2 channel memory feature so the benchmarks all run even faster.
Tried out my CAD program - Turbocad - no compatibility problems or glitches. Other unusual programs work fine...
