Home theater PCs are a must-have for techies out there. I bought this one knowing that I would be hooking it up right away and using it a lot. Though this hasn't replaced my need for cable, it is still a great buy. Since this did not have an OS, I planned on installing XBMC (xbox media center- an open source program/operating system that will run on every platform and organize your media), however, I had some problems with getting the drivers for HDMI correctly installed to linux, so I installed windows XP instead (my problems are due to me, not linux). From there, I installed XBMC, and I have a great media center with well organized media. Additionally, since I installed windows, I have no problem going online to visit netflix, hulu, and youtube. This box is a great buy for the money and is a better alternative than trying to hook up your regular use laptop that doesn't have an HDMI output on it.
